“As Peter Vanneck commented in 1971 when he was the only member present, “We really must do something about this”. I was the only member able to make it this year and it was my first attendance at the competition, so Peter’s words still have relevance to us all. It was such a good day that I would encourage members to attend in future years. The competition was explained to me as being slightly different to usual “Aresti” aerobatic contests in that it requires the pilot to complete a series of manoeuvres, some pre-selected and others chosen by him/her rather than a whole sequence pre-set by the organisers. It is to encourage “Apprentices” to the sport and allow them to develop their own style and sequences. Thus it is often more free flowing than the usual set pieces” – Michael Fopp 2017
