North Cape & Beyond

The final destination on this mission was Spitzbergen, one of the Svalbard group of islands that are nearly 800 miles inside the Artic Circle. Spitzbergen is under Norwegian sovereignty and with a population of only 2,000.
One aircraft’s partial engine failure over the Skagerrak and another losing their primary navigational instruments when overlying the cold Barents Sea, were among the more notable challenges during this trip to the far north.
