A trip to Holland
Date
April 2016
On Friday, members braved bad weather to land at Lelystad Airport for the start of the Holland Tulip Trip. Members enjoyed an Indonesian curry lunch at the WWII mess and a tour of the museum followed (for a lucky few) by a trip in the Fokker 4. Dinner was at Breakers on the beach later on that evening. Saturday started with a trip to the Hague to see the incredible Panorama Mesdag followed by the Maurithaus – home to the Vermeer’s masterpiece ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’. After that, most members went Dutch and took to bicycles to explore the local area before the celebratory dinner in the Huis der Duin. On Sunday, members had an unforgettable trip to the Keukenhof Gardens. Everywhere we looked in these beautiful gardens there was a different bulb – 800 varieties in all and over 7,000,000 planted annually. This year the gardens showcased “The Golden Age”.
