On the 11 February, 2019 a celebration of the centenary of the first non-stop flight across the Atlantic by Alcock and Brown was held at the Science Museum and afterwards at the Garrick Club.

Members gathered beneath the actual Vickers Vimy that had been modified for the flight. Group Captain Tony Alcock MBE spoke about his uncle, Sir John Alcock and gave a detailed account of his extensive flying experience as a pilot in the RNAS before and during WW1 and the run-up to the Atlantic flight.

Peter Collins representing Rolls-Royce spoke about the development of the Eagle VIII engine on which the success of the flight depended. Sir John Allison proposed a vote of thanks.
